Tutoring (Academic & Study Skills)
All students sometime run into problems with their academic program. If your child needs remediation, acceleration, study skills improvement, or other types of support to ensure they maximize their educational experience, give us a call.
Learning Pods
Learning Pods are created of small groups of children (typically 4-6). Children are either taught in person or online for a pre-determined length of time, covering pre-determined content (for example, Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies). If children are enrolled in traditional schools, Learning Pods offer additional teaching/tutoring opportunities, so children are successful in their online experience. Sometimes parents choose to enroll their children in Learning Pods as a homeschooling option.
Cyber School Support
Children who attend cyber schools (and their families) may require assistance in adjusting to this type of school atmosphere. Executive Functioning skills are critical for children who attend cyber schools because much of their learning is done independently. PIER can offer support for parents and children in making the transition to cyber learning and help develop the executive functioning skills required to be successful in the cyber environment.
Home School Support
Parents who home school may require support in assisting their children in learning specific academic content, dealing with learning problems, or coming up with fresh ideas. PIER can offer support for parents and home schooling organizations.
Individualized Training (Customized Topics)
Educators and parents who choose home or cyber schooling sometimes realize they lack the skills necessary to meet the individualized needs of the children in their charge. If you find you need alternate interventions because what you are doing is not working, need background in content knowledge in a discipline that is not your "strong suit," or realize you need additional support in order to support your student, PIER is available to help.

Parents often need help navigating the special education and paperwork process. PIER consultants are experts in providing support through the entire special education experience. If your child is just starting to receive special education services or has received services for a long time, we can help.
Special Education Paperwork Review
Sometimes families just need someone to explain all that paper. Special education paperwork should outline an educational program that provides a student with a meaningful education. We can help ensure your paperwork, from the initial evaluation through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) does just that. Remember, your paperwork constitutes a contract and is usually the centerpiece of any litigation.
Evaluation & IEP Meeting Support
Sometimes the special education process can be daunting. Having support before, during, and after any of the plethora of meetings that are held is important to ensure your child gets what they need. PIER consultants can help prepare you prior to a meeting or attend meetings with you.
Early Intervention to School-Age Transition Planning
Parents of children who receive services through early intervention often experience difficulty with the transition to school-aged programming. We often refer to it as the “Grand Canyon” because the process, procedures, paperwork, and who is involved completely change and it is often not a graceful experience. If you need support in transitioning your child to school-aged programming, call us.
College Consultative Services
Transitioning from high school to college is not always an easy task. Many student have difficulty with the transition, primarily because they were not prepared for the changes and lack understanding of how processes, procedures, living, and learning at college actually work. We can help students better understand and navigate the college experience.
College 504 Accommodations Advocacy
Individuals with disabilities going to college need an understanding of the process by which eligibility for accommodations at the collegiate level happens and how accommodations are determined. If you are heading off to college, know what you need in advance in order to expedite the disability accommodation process and ensure you get the services you need to be successful.
Coaching
Sometimes students need support that comes from someone outside their typical circle of family and friends. Coaching provides students with someone to talk to in an effort to boost their confidence, develop executive functioning skills (i.e., problem solving, cause and effect, organizational skills, etc.), provide guidance in navigating school and work, or just lending an ear.
