The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requires schools to provide Focused Professional Development "for all educators [that is] aligned with the district's common focus, objectives, and high expectations. It is [to be] ongoing and based on high-need areas." PDE requires professional development in very specific areas in both the Comprehensive Plan and the Special Education Plan. PDE also highly encourages schools to pursue training outside of the school district staff.
